When working on large projects you’ll want to bring along your trusty impact driver. It’s honestly a critical tool. 1. DeWalt Screwdriver Bit Set

The Dewalt Screwdriver Bit Set has everything you will need. It’s a full impact driver kit with 40 different pieces, each of them is individually forged to maintain functionality and durability for a long time. The assorted bit sizes are among the most common you’d need in a worksite, so it’s great for both professionals and hobbyists.

Each bit in this set is made with high-speed steel. This ensures that they won’t strip easily or break under heavy use. Despite how durable the material these bits are made with, it does allow flexibility to prevent breaking or cracking. The bits can flex up to 15°. The only downside is that the case for this bit set isn’t very secure for the bits. You may find that they jostle around in the case and become cluttered.

Overall, I think this is the best impact driver bit set available for purchase right now.

Pros:

  • Has a 1-year warranty
  • The set comes with most bit types
  • Has a magnetic screw lock system
  • Bits are made with high-speed steel
  • Bits have flexibility

Cons:

  • The case isn’t super secure.

2. COMOWARE Impact Drill Bit Set

Source

The COMOWARE Impact Drill Bit Set have bits that are made with standard HSS construction and have a titanium coating. This construction and coating ensures that the bits are durable, have a cutting edge that will stay sharp for a long time, you can easily make countersink holes, and removes debris from the drilling process.

It also comes with two flutes that help decrease friction with the heat on impact drills. This is done so by keeping it cooler thus allowing it to aslo be faster in drilling both metal and wood.

A quick change adapter allows the user to lock into different power tools quickly without worrying about bit holes being misaligned.

This bit set has 30 pieces and includes 29 numbers of driver bits whose sizes do not vary much but there is 1 size variation of 27/64″ (11/32″) as well as it has 2 flutes. The driver bits have 1/4 inch hex shank that fits into all power tools more securely and easily as well as they have a quick change adapter to better fit that.

This impact drill bit set is great for wood, plastic, and metal countersink holes. I recommend these driver bits for the home DIYer, and those who need them for general engineering and building use. It offers diverse sizes to meet your every need; from 5/62 to 12 inches. Considering the price it’s currently at, it’s a great value.

Pros:

  • Has titanium coating for durability
  • The design of the bits ensures that the countersink hole will be smooth
  • Has a quick change adapter
  • Comes with two flutes

Cons:

  • Not great for steel materials

3. Makita 50-Piece Impactx Driver Bit Set

Source

Makita’s Impactx Driver Bit Set is another great choice if you’re looking for a complete impact driver bit set. Each driver bit is made with special S2 steel and was made with machine precision. The S2 steel is used so the driver bits can perform under heavy use without cracking or breaking. Moreover, a heat treatment is done so that the bits are flexible and an anti-corrosion protective coating is added to ensure the bits have a long life.

The bits in this set come in a carrying case that have multiple rows of slotsfor bits that can be rotated 90° for quick removal and convenient storage. This set also has five strong magnetic bit holders, allowing you to recover your bits easily if they happen to fall into a small space. However, we would like to note that this kit does have one downside: the #2 Phillips driver bits are slightly undersized and might have a loose fit in some impact drivers. This is not ideal.

Overall, the Makita Impactx Driver Bit Set is one of the best impact driver bit sets because it’s durable, affordable, and offers a pretty complete set of bits.

Pros:

  • Affordable
  • Good quality
  • Has magnetic bit holders
  • Includes the major bit types
  • Bits are made with S2 steel

Cons:

  • #2 Philips bits are slightly undersized

4. WORKPRO 47-Piece Screwdriver Bit Set

Source

The WORKPRO Impact Screwdriver Bit Set has a total of 47 impact driver bits. While that’s a decent amount I really like that each of the bits is made from special alloy steel. This ensures that the bits remain durable for long periods of time even when they experience heavy shock and impact from drilling. The driver bits are also covered with black oxide that will stop them from corroding or rusting over time.

I also like that this kit comes with a pretty nice carrying case. It’s durable, lightweight, and features secure slots for the bits. This means that the bits won’t shake out of their slots and bounce around while you transport them from place to place. I think my favorite part of this set though is the magnetic extension holder that comes with this set. The magnetic extension holder allows you to easily and quickly pick up and hold onto any impact driver bits you want to use. Plus, since it’s an extension holder it adds a little bit more reach fwhich is beneficial for when you need to drive screws in hard-to-access areas.

In the end, it’s one of the best impact driver bit sets you can buy today, with the minor downside of the case not being the toughest out there. I don’t like that the slide latch is made of regular plastic since it could break pretty easily. Still, since the biggest flaw with this product being the case rather than the bits I give it a high vote for overall excellence.

What We Like

  • Case has tight slots for the bits
  • Has bits that will fit most jobs
  • Includes a magnetic extension rod
  • All of the bits have a black oxide coating

What We Don’t Like

  • Case can break pretty easily

5. Bosch ITPH2205 Impact Screwdriving Bit

Source

BOSCH is known for their high-quality bits, and the ITPH2205 Phillips #2 impact screwdriving bit heads are no exception. It features a 10x life expectancy when they’re compared to the traditional Bosch 2″ bits. They’re made with Xtended Torsion Zone technology to help avoid breakages in the bits while driving screws into materials such as wood or drywall.

The precision engineered tips mean that they’ll fit better in your impact driver and the heat treated manufacturing provides more strength. With the hex interface and laser-etched markings, users will never have to worry about not being able to read the screwdriver bit after use. You’ll quickly be able to switch out bits when necessary. Also with laser-etched markings, you’ll never have to worry about the bit becoming unreadable over the long haul.

Overall, you won’t be disappointed with this set. It’s a great choice.

Pros:

  • Comfortable design
  • Sturdy

Cons:

  • Reviewers report that it’s time-consuming to put together

Buyer’s Guide: How to Choose the Best Impact Driver Bit Set

In order to figure out which impact driver bit set is right for you, you’ll need to consider these major things:

Do You Need a Set that Comes with a Variety of Driver Bits?

The best impact driver bit sets contain different bits which vary in size and number. Of course, the larger the kit is the more bit variety you’ll get. Meaning the kit will be able to serve you for a wider range of jobs. A kit that has 50 bits is better suited for a more experienced craftsman than a kit that only has 6-10 bits in it.

However, more bits don’t always mean better. The amount of bits you need strictly depends on what you need the kit for. For instance, if you just want a kit of driver bits for basic repairs, a simple set with between 10 and 20 bits is most likely all you need.

With all of that being said, it’s also not a bad idea to have a few extra bits. You never know when you might need a specific bit size for a unique job that you didn’t anticipate having to deal with. Having the right bit in your set means you won’t have to go searching for it at the hardware store later.

How Durable are the Driver Bits?

Another thing that’s important is the overall durability of the driver bits. Most bits are made from durable steel; you’ll want to shoot for either carbon steel or S2 steel since they’re some of the best materials you can get. You’ll also want to make sure whatever driver bits you’re looking to purchase are coated with some kind of non-corrosive material. All of these materials we just talked about are important because they’ll ensure the bits won’t break, even after a lot of use.

If you end up getting fragile impact driver bits, they may break in the middle of a job. This can put off your repairs for quite some time until you find a replacement bit. I really suggest that you invest in durable bits or you’ll regret it later.

Accessories

Most driver bit sets come with accessories. Some of the accessories you could see are nut drivers or special attachments magnetic tips or different bits for screwdrivers. Magnetic tips are valuable because they’ll prevent you from losing your bits in nooks or crannies.

However, I would like to mention that the accessories that come in a driver bit set does not determine the overall value of the kitt – I recommend using them as tiebreakers, meaning they should be something that helps you choose between sets if you really can’t decide based on the driver bits alone.

Organization

The last thing you want to keep in mind is how a set is organized. Most of the best impact driver bit sets come with either a pouch or carrying case which have designated slots and pockets for bits of different sizes. This is great for organization and will allow you to easily take your set between jobs without having to toss all the bits into a bag and sort through them once you get to your next jobsite.

However, I would like to note that some kits have better organization setups than others. Some cases come with markings on the bit drivers themselves, while others set cases may only have markings on the slots inside the case.

Other Things To Consider

If you have a cordless impact driver make sure it’s compatible with your driver bits. Also, before using the impact driver you will want to double-check that all the cutting edges are in good shape and the flutes are centered.

Be sure the bit you choose will work for what you’re working on. Drilling holes, hammer drilling, and driving screws are examples of work that need different driver bits. Impact driver bits do vary in price but they should always be within a reasonable range. You don’t need to break the bank on drill bits.
